DLS v1 May06

From NYU CCPP Wiki

This is a page about the PRIMUS project.

The Deep Lens Survey (DLS) field is for the end of the night during the March 2006 run, and for the middle of the night in the May 2006 run.

The May run has some slight changes to the March run:

  1. We've removed SKY, because as Daniel puts it, milling more slits is not costless
  2. The slits are 1 arcsec wide and the alignment boxes are 5 arcsec
  3. Where possible, we put alignment stars in the outer annulus of a bright star mask.
  4. We've been more careful about the secondary guide stars, guaranteeing V<14.5 for all.

Effectively, we are treating the March masks 12-14 as done, and replacing any of the others with masks 24-41.

The priorities are:

  1. DLS_CALIB (103): F stars (~ 60)
  2. DLS, DLS_FAINT (203): bright (r<22.8) DLS galaxies and 30% of faint (22.8<r<23.3), density-dependent sparse sampled (~ 1600)
  3. DLS_FILL (303): Remainder of DLS and DLS_FAINT not in sparse set (~ 500)
  4. DLS_FILL2 (403): The other 70% of faint DLS galaxies (~ 600)
